Of all UK Universities, Oxford has the largest number of groups researchng aspects of quantum science. Our teams are spread over multiple Departments, and include both experimentally and theoretically orientated groups. Their work ranges from the very practical, such as finding better materials for existing technologies, through to developing the building blocks of future devices like quantum computers, and on to fundamental questions about the nature of quantum systems and of quantum reality itself.

To make the description of our groups manageable, we have roughly divided them in four categories as shown below. Note, however, that any such demarcation is imperfect -- many of our teams have research corresponding to two or even three of these sections.
